- ways to cure a sore throat--
THE FOLLOWING COULD TAKE UP TO A WEEK TO WORK IF YOU HAVE A BAD SORE THROAT -----Chamomile tea Make a tea adding 1 or 2 teaspoons of dried chamomile blossoms to a pint of boiling water; steep and drink a cup every few hours.
--Cayenne pepper Add 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to 1 cup of boiling water; stir well and gargle while mixture is very warm. This brings more circulation to the area and helps draw away the infection. To this formula you can add 4 parts Echinacea, 1 part garlic bulb, and 2 parts peppermint leaves to 1 part cayenne.
--Mustard Grind one tablespoon of mustard seed and combine with the juice of half a lemon, one tablespoon of salt, one tablespoon of clear honey, and 1 1/4 cups of boiling water. Leave this mixture, covered, for 15 minutes and use as a gargle.
--Slippery Elm bark (Ulmus rubra) helps to soothe sore throats or cough. For sore throats, slippery elm bark can be taken as a tea. To make the tea, add 1 tablespoon of dried bark to a cup. Pour 1 cup of boiling water into the cup. Steep it covered for at least 10 minutes and then strain. Have up to 3 cups of slippery elm bark tea a day. Dried slippery elm bark can be found in bulk in some health food stores.
--Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis), a herb found in Europe and North America, has been used for centuries as a sore throat home remedy. Like slippery elm, it also contains mucilage which helps to soothe sore throats. To make marshmallow root tea, add 1 tablespoon of the dried root to a cup. Add a cup (8 ounces) of boiling water, steep it covered for at least 10 minutes then strain. Drink up to 3 cups a day.
Honeysuckle Flower, a sweet-tasting and smelling herb, is one of the most commonly used sore throat remedies in traditional Chinese medicine as a remedy for sore throats. Honeysuckle flowers aren't as easy to find in stores as slippery elm and marshmallow. Besides health food stores, Chinese herbal shops often carry it.
---Rise to the occasion. Another cause of sore throat in the morning—besides sleeping with your mouth open—is a backup of stomach acids into your throat during the night. These acids are extremely irritating to sensitive throat tissues. Avoid the problem by tilting your bed frame so the head is 4 to 6 inches higher than the foot. (Try using bricks.) But don't simply pile more pillows under your head; they can cause you to bend in the middle, increasing pressure on your esophagus and making the problem worse. As an extra precaution, don't eat or drink for an hour or two before retiring.

Get regular, good-quality sleep. Go to bed and get up at the same time each day.
* Stay well-rested. An overtired sleeper will snore.
* Sleep without a pillow. Pillows bend your neck, and a bend in your neck can block your airway.
* Elevate the head of your bed. If you need to have your head higher than your body to sleep (as many sleepers do), elevating the head of your bed will accomplish this without bending your neck.
* Lose weight. Improving your fitness can significantly improve your ability to breathe freely when you sleep.
* Sleep on your side. Sleeping on your back may cause the flesh of your throat to relax and block your airway. Sleeping on your side does not have this effect.
* Avoid eating or drinking before bed. Food or alcohol consumed three or fewer hours before sleep relaxes your muscles and increases the likelihood of snoring.
* Stay fit. Keeping within your weight-range is key to not snoring.

- 7 ways to make your roses last longer-----
- When placing a bouquet of flowers in your own vase or container, make sure you start out with a clean vase. Clean vases with diluted bleach water and rinse thoroughly before using.
- Remove all leaves and foliage from the portion of the stems that will rest beneath the water. Re-cut the stems at an angle with a sharp knife, being careful not to crush the stems. This will ensure better water absorption.
- Put a floral preservative in the vase of very, warm water, around 100 degrees. (If you did not receive a preservative packet with your bouquet, add 1 T. vinegar and a ½ tsp. of sugar to warm water and let it dissolve.) Place flowers in warm water. Flowers draw up warm water more readily than cold.
- Cut flowers are best placed in cooler conditions, less than 75 degrees preferably. Don’t set a vase of cut flowers near a heat source such as a radiator, fireplace, stove, or directly under an air vent.
- Check the water level daily. Change the water every few days and re-cut the stems at the same time. Always add warm water, not cold to the vase.
- When you are away from home or at night, you may store your roses or other cut flowers in the refrigerator to keep them fresh longer. But, do not store flowers near fruit. Apples release ethylene gas that will cause your flowers to wilt quickly.
